Claire West, Support Worker Coordinator

Hi everyone, my name is Claire West.  I have worked with Xavier since 1994 in a few different roles – as a Support Worker, a structured respite provider, a keyworker and in my current role as Support Worker Coordinator.

Xavier combines the best of both worlds. It is an extremely flexible, family friendly employer and it is a fantastic organisation that does amazing work.  I love coming to work each day.  My colleagues are a group of extremely dedicated and passionate people.  I also get to coordinate an amazing team of diverse, caring, highly skilled Support Workers that work within a number of different programs.

As part of my role I meet with the families and beautiful children who receive direct care services from Xavier.  It is very rewarding to be able to work with families to achieve the goals and dreams they have for their children – whether it is to join a club, start a hobby or to simply have the opportunity to go for a walk at the waterfront or a picnic in the park.

Mitchell, Support Worker

Hi I’m Mitchell, a Support Worker for Xavier. I am thoroughly enjoying being a part of the Xavier team. It is truly gratifying that I am able to work with a diverse range of young people all who have unique backgrounds and stories.  My favourite part of the job is that every day is different and every day is just as rewarding as the next.  Although the job can have its challenges the satisfaction of helping others is worth the effort. Xavier has been very supportive of my growth as a Support Worker since commencing my role. I have also recently had the opportunity to become a part of a specialised team on a project that is being run to support children with tracheostomies. I am very pleased with how far I have been able to come and the new skills I have gained.

Angela Ebbage, Inclusion Advisor

I am Angela Ebbage, the Inclusion Advisor at Xavier. My role is to facilitate the safe inclusion of children with disability in mainstream childcare environments. I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services and have extensive experience in the childcare industry spanning over 20 years as a Coordinator, Area Manager and Trainer. I moved to Xavier in 2018 because we identified that there is a lack of support and information for families of children with complex disabilities about how to gain access to inclusive childcare environments. I believe that all children have a right to access childcare; to interact with peers, to learn, to grow, to play and to belong. My passion is making this a reality for children with complex disability so that they can benefit from friendships, fun and learning in a healthy and safe environment. I look forward to working with your whole family to make childcare a reality for your child.
