Centre based respite at Xavier Place
Xavier Place, is our 6 bed, purpose built respite centre located in the Brisbane suburb of Yeerongpilly. We support children and young people with disability to:
Xavier Place also provides the family and full-time carers of our guests with the opportunity to recharge and take some time for themselves and to focus on work or study or other family responsibilities.
Staying at Xavier Place
Xavier Place, is fully-accessible and purpose-built to support children, teenagers and young people with complex physical disabilities. Each of our six bedrooms is equipped with a hi-lo bed and ceiling hoist. We provide a comfortable and supportive environment with a sensory room, an open-plan communal eating and living area, and outdoor activity area and quiet spaces both indoors and outdoors.
Located in the heart of the up-and-coming suburb of Yeerongpilly, Xavier Place is perfectly located for outings into the community.
Some of the ways that we support children and young people at Xavier Place have changed and will continue to change following directives from Queensland Health in response to COVID-19.
What’s on in Yeerongpilly?
Located at the entrance to Yeerongpilly Green, there is lots to be explored in our neighbourhood! During COVID-19, all outings adhere to the current advice from our health departments in the best interest of the safety of our guests and the Xavier Place team. Outings into the community happen with our trained Support Workers and are coordinated with parents.
We’re located close by Yeerongpilly’s shopping and eating precinct and surrounded by lovely parks and green spaces. We’re also easy wheeling distance from the Brisbane Tennis Centre and two major train stations.
The Xavier Place team
Our Coordinator Cheryl, is on-site full-time at Xavier Place and looks after the day-to-day running of our centre, our guests and their families. We run over-night wake and sleep shifts and our Support Workers are training by our Registered Nurses and Occupational Therapists. We also have a Registered Nurse on call. While your child receives the quality of care they need to meet their complex needs, we also work hard to make Xavier Place a fun environment where our guests will feel comfortable and have a good time with their friends.
